I have a v75 in many bits, with a really poorly frame. was road legal before the frame snapped.
I have a like new professionally resprayed frame and swingarm and forks. literally like new
I need this gone for christmas.
Anyone fancy making me some sensible offers?

yamaha v75 1974 Empty New to forum

Post  yvonnet80 Sat 5 Aug - 10:43

Just want to say hi. Just bought a Townmate80 1985 imported from Japan where they made them, 17000 miles on clock pretty much immaculate Condition. Love it to bits.
Had a v75 when I was 17 this was a two stroke the townmate as you know is shaft driven and four stroke.
Hopefully more reliable.
Just taking it to Cornwall with hubby's lambretta so hope both go well.
My old two stroke I bought from new 1980 and loved it though I blew the gasket on many occasions like you do when you are young and stupid! Drove a Honda 90 also which I found heavier and not as nippy.
Looked for another v75 and this eventually I found is fab and gets lots of looks as us in green classic look and so many hondas but not so many of these. Am looking for a Manuel original not Haynes if any one can help. Cheers Yvonne
Like to add passed my test at 17 on my bike had these, lambretta to Kawasaki 750 cc and gone bk to my little Yammy! Great fun bike!

Presumably this Townmate is the one you have bought http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-Townmate-T80-Deluxe-1985-12V-Electric-start-Solo-seat-Stunning-/232335079376?hash=item36183ff7d0%3Ag%3AvEwAAOSwKytZGCkg&nma=true&si=3%252Fa4rtGXBWgrkeg2G4pRaRm88%252Bo%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 I think you will find the miles are actually kilometers.

Hi John the actual miles in kilometres are 10500 I'm presuming that's around 7000 kilometres ?

Does anyone know if the engine would fit in a 6v t80 wouldn't mind having 12v better for running my Sat nav and charging my phone I don't think doing that on my 6v battery is doing it much good might even have better lights to

Are the lights still direct from alternator on your 12v Japanese import? I would think a Yamaha manual in English will be unobtainable as these 12 volt ones were only for Japanese home market. The Haynes manual will cover the cycle parts & some procedures on the engine. Spares may be a problem (particularly the starter motor & electrics) although I believe engine unit is the same as the 80cc Quad bike.
