Thought I would start a discussion about any opinions on the latest model of Piaggio's "starter-less" engine in the Medley and overall opinion/s about this scooter.

I was in Greece on hols last month and hired one of these for 3 weeks and found it to be pretty good. My comparison is with the 2010 Honda SH150i that I have.

Apart from a few design flaws the Medley performed pretty well, is comfortable, fuel efficient and the build quality is very good also. The one I rented had 4,000kms on the clock.

Are they popular in the UK or has anyone ridden one?

Looking at the spec http://www.piaggio.com/medley/en_EN/models/medley-s/medley-s-150/ the engine is 155cc a No No in the UK as that puts it in the 150cc to 400cc tax bracket of £41 per year as against £18 for a 150cc or under. For that reason I would not think they will be popular here and indeed they only list the 125 UK. Also the stop start system seems a bind unless it can be disabled, OK when new and battery good, but will be a problem later. No kick starter I presume. The good think about the old Townmate is it is simple with no gizmo's to go wrong.
