I had a guy ring me today was looking for a starter motor for a T80. Apparently one of those green Japanese home market imports. Apparently it had stopped working and when he took it apart it was full of oil. looks like an oil seal had gone.
He was surprised to hear that the UK T80's were never fitted with starter motors, he was not aware of that. Told him he was very unlikely to find one in UK and one from abroad (if he could find one) would be expensive. Also told him that they are probably the same as on the Rapter Quad bike that uses a similar engine to the T80.
So if you are thinking about buying one of the Jap imports check the starter motor before you buy it.

The starter motor has any electric problem?

If the problem is only the oil it is easy to make the starter in pieces and clean it.
There are many T50 and T80 with electric sterter here in Greece.
The best is that we have and a starter to start the engine when the electric or the battery fail.

A friend of mine had a problem with the starter ,the problem was in a damaged gear.
But he placed one of a Crypton  that was the same.

Here are the part numbers of the starter but we will never read the .... description Very Happy
