t80 or cub Empty T80 v Honda Cub

Post  JohnW Sat 16 Mar - 8:21

I would choose the T80, a) I have plenty of spares b) I think it is a better built machine than the Honda Cub ie shaft drive & 4 gears (early Cubs only had 3) the engine is better designed as it has ball bearings on the cam shaft, the Cub relies on the camshaft running directly in the alloy head casting. If it wears you need a new head. The main week point of the T80 is the lighting, the direct 6v system is not good, but at least you dont rely on a battery. I think the later Cubs had battery lighting

my cub and t80 are on par speedwise but the cub is easy to ride in stop go traffic cos of the ability to push down from top to neutrol bounce
