Hi All,

I suspect I have a worn oil seal on the gear shift shaft as I get a couple of drops of oil when the bike is left standing on the side stand and was wondering if anyone has ever replaced it on their Townmate and if so, is it a big job?

Any advice welcome before I tackle it. I do have a Haynes and Yamaha service manual but wondered if anyone here has carried out the repair.

Thanks, Frank.

Hi Frank I think you can hook it out and replace the new one with out removing the casing? Gaz.

What size is the seal should be on it.

my 1988 townmate leaks oil in the same place, If its only a slight damp patch, it is far easier and cheaper and less time consuming just to top up the oil once a week?
