Castrol R
I bought a petrol lawn mower brand new, it needs SAE30 grade oil adding to the motor before use,
I have 5 liters of Castrol R on the shelf in the shed can I use this?
As it would smell nice when in use
I understand that I would only ever be able to use R once used as its castor based, am I correct? regards Gaz

Gaz Castrol R would be total unsuitable for a lawn mower engine (I assume its a 4 stroke) you could not change back to a mineral oil without using a flushing oil to clean out the R. Use it at your own peril. Best to put the R on eBay & buy a tin of the correct oil. Lots of classic racers still use R.
