on a ride out yesterday before the rain I wondered if you trusted your fuel gauges or did you work on so many miles I had better fill her up , im in the habit of taking a small bottle of petrol in the top box
my fuel gauge seems to drop to half with in ten miles then hover over near the red for ever

My gauge is fairly accurate, but I have 'fine tuned it', yours probably needs the float adjusting. Simple to do. Drain tank, put in 2.5 litres petrol, gauge should read half full, if not remove float unit & bend the wire float lever down if reading is low or up if its high. Get it so it reads 1/2 full on gauge it should then read reasonably correct over the range. The important thing is to know how much petrol is left in the tank when it goes into red. Dont worry about the full reading.

That's not fair !! we get enough rain, you and i are going to fall out mr Barker.

I much prefer a reserve petrol tap to a fuel gauge, when you switch to reserve it's time to fill up.

yes you old fashioned person,, t80s don't have reserve the older British bikes all had reserve may be it s all be cause we have a fu el gauge ,
saying that my 54reg Honda xr has no fuel gauge but has a reserve tap
I remember very well riding along on my old british when the bike starts to splutter you reach down to turn the tap on to reserve only to find your already on reserve
we had a lovely day here sunny bit windy how was your weather

Yup, weather is the same as yours, about 8C, as for forgetting you are already on reserve, it's time to start taking zinc tablets.
