Oil Change - Rinsing the engine.
Hi All,
I am about to give the Towny an oil change and wanted to know if it were a good idea to rinse the engine before topping it up with fresh oil.
The reason I ask is to clean the inside as much as possible, rinse it with Kero or something that won't effect the clutches too much.
What do you folk think or suggest?
Cheers, Frank.

Re: Oil Change - Rinsing the engine.
With modern high detergent oils there is no need to flush out, just get engine hot before draining, it is recommended in the manual to clean the gauze filter but as this entails removing the drive side casing & fitting a new gasket afterwards, this is not a quick or easy job. I just drain & replace oil every 1500 miles to avoid build up of sludge.
If you still want to flush out I would use one of the proper flushing oils made for the purpose which you should be able to obtain from a local car spares/accessory shop.

Re: Oil Change - Rinsing the engine.
When I worked for Fiat in the 80s part of the service at one time was to flush the engine out, it soon stopped as we had that many motors coming back with little or no oil pressure also knocking and burning oil that practice soon stopped.
