Hello
Changed over my old wiring loom from my donor bike and onto my project T80

Checked everything over and fitted my new sealed Maplins battery, along with new speedo bulbs.

All indicators work, horn brake lights from both switches, getting there,

However, when i came to turn it off it wouldn't stop running!, until i pulled off the spark plug cap.

Any ideas on why it wouldn't stop with the key?

many thanks

You have an earth wire disconnected somewhere. When you turn off the ignition it earths out the flywheel mag. Check the connectors to engine. The earth wires are BLACK

SORTED!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

The problems i'm having i think are due to using a combination of the two bikes , the project bike is an 86 (C) plate and the donor bike i've taken the loom off is a later 96 model. I found the missing earth and now it switches off with the ignition key

I'm now using the later instrument cluster (one with the High beam light ) and there is a spare yellow wire coming from this bulb from the instrument panel.
I can't see where this goes as there doesn't appear to be a spare wire for it to go into from the main or loom or sub loom from the light/ hi/low switch. Question

Any ideas ?

Thanks

As you say the wiring looms are different on later bikes which had a Warning Light for indicators & high beam (model 2FL)
The Yellow from High Beam indicator goes to the high beam head lamp connection also Yellow. Get yourself a Haynes manual if you do not already have one as there is a good wiring diagramme in it, & its essential for tracing wires.
