My new '90 Townmate has a small oil leak, previous owner didn't know exactly where it was coming from but it is wet near the sidestand lever, could this just be a leaky gasket or something more serious?
He says he's only had to top it up twice in a year, it's just the odd drop. Bike is otherwise mechanically fine.

Give it a good clean with Kero or Wax and Grease remover, wipe it dry and then wait for the next drop. Cracked gasket would be highly likely.

Thanks for the reply, is there a good source of gasket sets for these bikes please? Or is it the usual ebay trawl?  Smile
thanks again
Tony
