Standard setting 1 5/8 turns out. Start from there & adjust till it idles correctly you may need to then adjust the throttle stop screw

Ian, if your bike's been sitting for a while it probably would help to strip and clean carb....
Mine would splutter a bit coming off idle when you tried to rev it and would splutter at about 1/2 way up rev range, had to strip it and found the main culprit was the emulsification tube that the needle slides in was blocked, had to strip the carb and knock it out and use carb cleaner to get the holes cleared.
My engine runs best with air screw at 1 turn out, also make sure the float level is correct, should be about 3 to 4mm below the bowl level.

You'll like this little trick...
You'll need a bit of clear tube, windscreen washer tube or go to your local pet shop and get some aquarium air tube like I use.
Connect it onto the bottom drain of the float bowl and tie or tuck it up along side the carb as in pic.
Turn the petrol on, open the drain screw and see how far up the tube it goes, should be at 3 - 4mm below the float bowl top.
If it needs adjusting its a pain to keep removing the carb and bowl and altering the height of the float tab but has to be done.
