That's strange if I press peddle down in 4th going along it just cuts the clutch in an out it doesn't change to first? Mines the older bike with rear light with indicators attached is this a change they done with later gearboxes

Are you sure this has FOUR gears, looks like it may have the THREE speed box as fitted to the T50. That goes from 3rd to 1st

Does it have the electric start, if not looks like engine has been changed

Looks like some were 3 speed and some 4, strange that it has the 3 speed sticker on it, so looks like engine has been changed. (or leg shields from another bike!)
It would appear for whatever reason the Jap home market T80 varied a lot from the UK ones. Problem will be getting spares for the electric start engine, but I suppose if needs must it could always be changed for a UK spec engine, but bike may need to be changed back to 6v if 12volt flywheel generator system not interchangeable with the UK version.
You dont really need an electric start on a T80, just one more thing to go wrong.

Not too bothered about the electric start admittedly, but the 12v power would be missed.

Μine is a 1986 T50 , 6volts, no electric starter, and 3 gear speeds, the gears work like circle, i always have to look for the neutral green light because two times i went fron 3nd to 1st gear and the back wheel brakes hard.
