l plate on my top box
a couple of years ago I bought a white top box to go on my t80 , on the back of it there was a painted L plate I made a half hearted attempt to get it off then gave up
after riding around for the past two years with it on there some one told me its illegal to display only one L plate , I told them I was not a learner , they then told me that it was a offence to display L PLATE IF YOU ARE A FULLY QUILFIED DRIVER
can anyone tell me what the law is

Even though I am in Sydney, Australia, the same rule applies here which would probably be the same case there in the UK. Yes, it is illegal to display L plates at a time you have an unrestricted licence.
Best to check with your local police, they would know for sure.

Re: l plate on my top box
If its only painted on it must be possible to remove it with thinner but make sure it does not dissolve the plastic. If all else fails you will have to paint it over as yes it is illegal to display L plates when you have a full licence, though here in the UK you are unlikely to ever get stopped unless for a more serious offence as the police are stretched to the limit doing more important work. However best to comply with the law.

Re: l plate on my top box
we have a short stretch of two miles of motorway from the a27 as it joins the m27 that runs in to Portsmouth I ve seen loads of lL plates on that stretch of motorway never seen one stopped I have used it a few times on my t80 ,never had a summons through the post , either the cameras don't pick it up or the operators don't bother
anyway will paint over it or better still stick a reflective patch over it
