Brining a T80 back to life in Ireland.
Hi everyone,
I've just picked up an old T80 that was sitting in a shed for over 10 years. It's in fair enough condition but I plan to get all the mechanics up and running, then I will do a full respray next year and bring her back to the showroom spec.
I'm not sure how many are around Ireland, if any.
I wanted to pick up a step through but didn't want a traditional honda.
Thanks
P

Wrong shocks
The shocks shown will not fit, wrong bottom end fitting. Lots of these being advertised on eBay for T80 when they will not.

Compare them with the originals. The ones you have have bushes both ends, but the originals have a U fitting at the bottom to fit over the brackets on the swing arm & bevel drive. The rubber bush is in the swing arm & bevel drive NOT in shock.

Re: Brining a T80 back to life in Ireland.
It's all good - I've all parts that I think I need now and almost enough parts to rebuild another Townmate. I'm going to go and strip all down this week and send the frame of for repair and respray. Can anyone advise on a the original color code - If not a code that's extreemly similar for respray...
Thanks guys

Re: Brining a T80 back to life in Ireland.
After review - I ended up sending the Townmate in to be powdercoated last week - The guy that was doing the work was able to create a mix that was pretty much a perfect match for the blue. I got all the engine caseing in silver. Can't wait to get my hands on it next week.

After powder coating this is what we're looking like - I've also got the engine casing powdercoated but yet to pop them on...
Finally starting to come together. I got new rims but ended up pwdercoating the old wheels. Look at how good the came out - Compare the picture above and below
It's hard to believe that we started off looking like this

Today the drive got stripped and rebuilt - About 1kg of sluge was inside and had to be cleaned out.
All cleaned and ready for action.

Rear drive grease
I hope you used the right grade of grease, Castrol Spheerol L-EP-0 semi fluid is the correct grade http://www.lkperformance.co.uk/additives-lubricants/castrol-classic/castrol-classic-spheerol-l-ep-o-grease-500ml/218724

john, thanks for the heads up - I did get the grease you're talking about - seemingly it caused all kinds of problems if you use regular grease

Getting some of the final parts cleaned up. Today I got the seat recovered - Not sure what you think of the white beading - I'm still not sure
Looking to replace the bolts/screws on the frame but it's proving hard enough to source.... Any help appreciated
