Hi Guys,

Finally, the Townmate has arrived down under and it got here in one piece and I am very happy with it. Will be posting some pics soon.

I have briefly gone over the scooter and noticed the under side of the cylinder has the cooling fins rusted. Not too sure if fins are actually cast on that side of the cylinder block but can someone please confirm? The rest of the bike is fine, slight rust spots in the usual spots in the rear guard. If anyone can point me in the right direction of getting a good second hand cylinder, I would appreciate it. Cheers, Frank.

Hi Frank

Picture of the cylinder underside. It does get all the road spray and certainly the Honda C90 is well known for losing the cast iron fins from corrosion.

Yours looks in good condition Doug, the lower fins can rust entirely away. Dont think it has much adverse effect on the engine as the fins are minimal anyway. Even the cylinder head has no real fins. Its amazing how the engine keeps cool.
