You could always have it stripped & chromed, if you find a secondhand one the chrome will probably have rusted. Does it matter anyway, painted or chromed it will do the same job.

I suppose that is an option. I think I prefer the bigger tubed steel ones, they look more solid.

The thing is here in Sydney, that chroming shops charge a fortune to chrome anything. I don't know what the reason is for it being so expensive. I got a price a little while back to get the front rim re chromed, just the rim and I nearly fell of my chair when I heard $180.00 AUD (£118.00 GBP).

I can buy a brand new rim from a Yamaha Dealer in Greece for £60.00 each delivered to Sydney.

Chrome plating is expensive everywhere these days. A lot of the cost is the preperation, stripping old chrome then repolishing the metal before re-plating

A guy called John Jackson tel 07742 611811 makes luggage racks in stainless steel for almost any bike, cost around £75. I dont know where he lives (in UK) as he does not give an address in his advert on Old Bike Mart
