My T80 "Tourmate"
I'm new to the forum, very happy I found it nice to know there are other people with the same affliction. ha ha. Ive had a few townmates over the years..I like using them to go touring around europe on..much to the amazement/amusement of BMW riders.
just to give a little back here are some pictures (sorry about the quality, old mobile phone cam) of a townmate I put together a few years back for touring on I call it the "Tourmate"..I fitted it with a BSA Bantam fuel tank for extra capacity and cut the seat in half to create a sissy bar I built a luggage rack for the boxes and gave it a lick of gunmetal grey and a few other mods....sorry to any purists who disapprove. Ive found the Townmate will happily do 10 hour plus of riding per day no problem. Ive been all over wester europe on Townmates and they have never failed me on or off road, I'm currently doing a bit of winter riding In the alps on my unconverted T80 that I bought from an 81 year old man with just 3000 miles on the clock..Ive already put another 2000ish on it on this trip. would love to hear from anyone else who has done or is thinking of doing the same.
