Not many T80's left on the road
According to this web page http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/yamaha_t_80 in 2013 there are according to DVLA only 34 licensed & 36 on SORN (70 total) Obviously this does not include any stored in barns & sheds or exported but never the less they are on the decline. Maybe Gaz you should start a register of survivors. say year of manufacture, frame number, condition general & location (ie nearest large town UK or overseas) Not owners name or registration numbers

Re: Not many T80's left on the road
I don't believe those stats. Given that there are at least 2 running and registered machines sold each week on ebay uk, that would mean that 100 are sold each year on ebay alone (assume a similar total more through all other other sale methods e.g. gumtree, local ads, etc.) So lets say 200 per year are sold. If there really is only 80-ish registered machines remaining that would mean that the average duration of ownership is less than 6 months.
I've already skewed those figures by owning two - one for over 5 years, and another for 3 years...
I've always been sceptical of any stats from DVLA.

Re: Not many T80's left on the road
Those listed by DVLA are only those machines registered as Licenced or SORN, there are obviously many more that are unlicenced - been off the road from pre SORN days, lying in sheds etc. Dont forget the Townmate was never a big seller in its day, far more Honda Cubs were sold. Lots of those Townmate's on eBay don't have paperwork & have lost their identity. others are re-listed by 'eBay dealers'. Many more registrations will still be on DVLA but not active, so they do not show. But the point is those shown by DVLA are ACTIVE or recently active bikes. Most of those 'barn & shed finds' are so rusted that they are unlikely to ever go back on the road, & as the rust bug takes hold more & more will meet the scrap man. Allowing for a few errors I dont think there are probably more than a hundred or so 'active' Townmates left. Certainly this would reflect in the very few Towmate owners coming onto this web site. I personally think the survivers web site give a fair picture of whats left.
