NEW CLUTCH PLATES ,PROBLEM
I fitted a new set of plates on the towner, the kickstart used to slip, it seemed fine, but went to start her today & it slipped, but when i did get her running it has stopped slipping again, set the adjuster 1/4 turn

The kit came with 6 plates, but looked online somebody is selling them with 7 plates, has somebody left out a plate in the past ?

How many plates were in the clutch before you took it apart? presumably if you have replaced them with the same number all should be well. According to Haynes manual there are 5 friction plates & 4 plain plates. plus 1 plain plate with angled tangs & 1 thrust weight plate but only the friction plates are included in the replacement kit.

Kick start slipping sometimes is a common thing, I dont know why, as long as clutch does not slip when under load no problem, just forget it & ride. I have never replaced clutch plates. Maybe they will bed in after a bit of use.
Where the ones you took out worn?

Re: NEW CLUTCH PLATES ,PROBLEM
Did you check the new clutch plates slide freely on the inner clutch drum?
I have recently had to return clutch plates that I bought on ebay for that reason, only 1 out of the 6 plates slide onto the inner drum and slid without snagging which would cause a slip in clutch and kickstart operations.
The T80 has 6 friction plates and the T50 has 5. as JW says there is a steel plate with angled tangs which is the top or outer most steel plate fitted and bend pointing inwards if that makes sense.
If it doesn't make sense to you let me know and I'll post pics as am in the middle of doing mine at the minute so easy to do.
You did remember to put the 4 compression springs back in ok?
