I recently had a flat spot at around 30 mph in top gear which caused surging, if you closed the choke a bit it ran ok so obviously caburation.
Problem appears to have been a partially blocked pilot jet, as after cleaning the jet it now runs ok. Strangely it still ran ok at tickover so must have been only a partial blockage. Worth noting if you have similar problems. By the way does anyone know of a source of new float chamber gaskets for the carb. Luckily mine was still re usable, but I note that even A J Sutton do not have the gasket in stock.
