Unfortunately it looks like someone has decided to break the steering lock on my T80 and in doing so bent the steering parts and ruined the lock leaving the bike out of service.

Looking at the damage it seems to have been the bracket between the steering head boss and the handlebar. The two pressed steel prongs the come up to meet the handlebar bolts are twisted.

does anyone know where I can get this part? I can't find it on ebay, but maybe I'm not labelling it correctly...

I assume its this part (No 20). I have one which I will sell you for £10, plus p&p £6 (total £16) If you are in UK or you can collect from Cambridge. If you want it let me know & I will send you my address by PM. I will require payment by cheque. I do not have a spare steering lock.

Thanks for helping me out with that part John. When I picked it up it looked a bit too substantial to just bend like that, but after removing the old one it is clear that some force is required to break the lock.
