T80 Travels
hi Everyone,
This Sunday 2nd September, the T80 was entered for the long distance Eskdale Run in the North Yorkshire National Park, covering 140 miles of the toughest hills and valleys thrown at it. The event is a Classic Vehicle run organised by the Teesside Yesteryear Motor Club annually, covering 2,3 & 4 wheel vehicles over 25 years old.
Of course the T80 performed very well, and was the smallest capacity machine entered. I think I did hear valve bounce more than once whilst climbing monsterous steep long hills, including Rosedale Chimney, Hob Hole, Egton High Moor Bank,Blakey Bank, single track roads, through fords and down interesting decends, plus avoiding the sheep of course.
Despite screaming it's little nuts off for most of the time, I reckon it used just under 7 litres of fuel (90 - 100 mpg). Which considering the terrain is excellent in my book. Off course a more liesurely approach would improve that figure considerable, but who wants to do that on such a nice day chasing Velocettes , Triumphs and BSA's?
I have taken part in this run since 2004 on various machines usually small capacity. Well anyone can do it on a big bike but funnily enough it is usually those who break down of course?.
I wonder what is instore next for little "Shafty"?
