I'd guess that what you have is a V80. The shaft drive T80 was introduced in 1983...

I don't think there are too many V80s around now, so look after it!

Sounds like you've done really well, there! I did have a V80 at one point, but just T80s now...

Just make sure there isn't any serious body rot...

Hi there
Welcome aboard. Sounds like you have a real gem. Low mileage bikes with few owners and known history are scarce and, in my opinion, make them very collectible. It's then a question of taking care of it whilst also making sure it gets regularly ridden and enjoyed. Townmates however are tough little things. I have been green laning with mine at Honda C90 club meets in Derbyshire and some of the BOATs (Byways Open to All Traffic) were really challenging but it took it all in its stride.
Forest of Dean isn't so far from me (Kidderminster) so could always arrange to meet up - Malvern perhaps?

Has a lot of fine surface rust but nothing deep seated think it has been left outside for a spell. It has had 3 owners the garage that sold it northfield motor cycles then husband and wife runs and rides nicely just a slight problem with idling have checked and renewed vacuum pipe, but still same goes extremely well for an 80 will pull my 15 stone to an indicated 55 with no probs, was bought as a runabout and to put on rack of motorhome as aging mo/home doesnt like my Ariel leader on its back,,,,,,lol

I think your speedo is a bit optimistic as 45mph is usually about top wack on the flat. The T80 speedos are normally accurate! Maybe check it out next time you go by one of those speed indicator signs
