I am looking after a bike for a friend who lives in the USA next spring he hopes to be able to get over and ride it, at the moment its in my name on sorn when He arrives in order to get insurance and me not to get any tickets would it be advisable to send the V5 off and put it back in his name? but do I use my address or his US address ?

As far as DVLA are concerned you are only the KEEPER, they are only concerned that the bike if on the road is taxed & insured by the rider. So when he comes back & wants to ride it get it taxed, & insured in your name with your friend as second rider, you will then both be covered & you can also ride it. If this proves expensive (you dont say what the bike is) then wait till he comes over put it back in his name at the address he is staying at then he taxes & insures it in the normal way.

That would qualify for classic bike insurance so with 2 riders on policy it should not be too expensive & you would get agreed value & breakdown cover. Try Peter James Insurance. http://www.peterjamesinsurance.co.uk/
It really needs to be insured anyway for fire & theft even if its off the road in case it gets nicked or garage/shed catches fire!!!
