Advice please on T80 purchase
Hi guys,
I was wondering if you could help me. The following bike has came up for sale close by and I was going to take a gamble on it. Can you let me know your thoughts.
Townmate for sale
But then I came across the following - It's a bit of a journey but love the idea of the sheild
Townmate with windshield
Then I came across this as well... Townmate (Looks clean)
Let me know your thoughts - I have an 86 in showroom condition - This one would be for a tidy up and the odd Sunday spin.
Thanks in advance.

hi
id always go for the older models.
i believe they have slightly better build quality, if you can find one that is not too rotten!

Dont think there is any difference in quality, most of the early ones are rust buckets now, also the later ones have better indicators (further out) and also turn signal indicator light in speedo.

hi
im unsure if its because someone repaired the handlebars but my 87 bike has so really terrible welds under the handlebars, i will post a picture.
on another note, i always preferred the chrome indicators, not as easy to knock off the bike!
also i think they gave the machine the bigger indicators due to some change in the law in the 80's?

Like John says be careful of rust, I had one the bike looked ok until I got it home and started poking about it was so rusted the swing arm had split on the underside and the frame was so rotten and full of filler it was dangerous and the frame was scrap ! Ho it was not long out of MOT!! I Posted pics on here some where.
