"only snag is some welding to the rear end near the shock mounts and inside the rear wheel arch! frame is solid and the right person will soon have this rare bike back on the road"
Seller is joking, after sand blasting or chemically dipping there will be no metal left to weld, and the whole back end is missing. Must have been a death trap, only any good for spares. Not worth £180 that someone has bid. Much better projects out there.

This one would be a better bet https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/yamaha-townmate-spares-or-repairs/152862501725?hash=item239750ab5d:g:AggAAOSwGllaV89D

Someone paid £267 for the rust bucket, crazy as its not worth that in spare parts, and the frame is too far gone for a safe economical repair.
