As i said before this is the old coil

And here you can see it is two coils, the big one at the right is the charging coil , and the other one the coil for lights.
You can see also the end of the coils connected to ground

An old burned coil and the dimensions of the core.

and the outside dimensions of the coil

For the new coil i bought plastic base (i do not know how this thing called) used to made transormers in a as possible similar dimension , i cut this and made my own base

I stuck the pieces with glue

The old coil had 105 turns , about 32-35 per layer, but it was shorter , the new has about 45 per layer because the wire is now 1.05 mm and the old one 0.8.
I did not pay attention to the number of windings, but tried to have as many as possible until it was filled and the dimensions of the old coil were maintained.
Ι believe now i have about 150 windings in 4 layers but i am not sure.

I hope I answered your question  Very Happy

Hi

I've done the same thing with a spare coil I had

The coil was different in that it had 2 separate circuits wound one over the other.

My coil was 34 turns per layer, 4 layers and the wire is 1mm dia

I rewound the coil with 1 circuit of wire rather than the 2 separate (ac lighting and ac to the regulator/rectifier). I managed to get 5 layers on and it still clears the flywheel

I then soldered the white and red/yellow to the ends of the new winding

I have only run the dummy setup with a drill on the flywheel nut and a meter across the white / red/yellow wires, but so far the output is pretty disappointing - My drill runs to 1900rpm and i'm seeing about 8v ac max. This is better than the manual spec (they quote 8v ac @ 8000rpm), but i'm nowhere near the voltage i'll need if i want to run a total 12vdc system.

I'm going to rewind with 0.5mm dia. I should get 68 winds per layer and hopefully 10 layers.

Do I know what i'm doing? No....

Will I crack this? Possibly not.

I'll have a go though.

Yes , you do this right

Maybe , you have to use one different regulator/rectifier or a bridge rectifier and a diy regulator.

Also the Y/R wire is used for lights, this wire must be cut and connect to the battery.
Can you measure the voltage without load?

In the past I used to disconnect the Y/R from the lighting switch and I measured the ac voltage without load at about 26-32 Volts.
