T80 throttle cable
Have had time to continue maintenance of new to me bike, reset chain tensioner and checked valves, have had trouble with slow running and running very rich so also stripped and cleaned carb (love my ultrasonic cleaner!) Reassembled and refitted carb and testing showed air screw wound right in, reset as per Haynes manual and seems much improved ticking over at idle (was cutting out). Throttle cable is fraying at carb end so next purchase is new cable, any suggestions ? Or more postage charges to Fowlers!

Re: T80 throttle cable
Thanks, ordered replacement along with new front shoes. Rear brake fine but front poor, or is that normal?

Both brakes should be the same, no doubt new shoes will sort it.

I replaced mine with ebc shoes from wemoto , also cleaned drum with brake cleaner and problem solved. Much improved brake action, had to really squeeze hard with the old shoes and my guess is they were contaminated or just hard with age, we're genuine yamaha ones so could be original 20 + years old
